Career questions
Do I need a Florida real estate license?
Yes, to practice brokerage in Florida. A sales associate completes a 63-hour pre-licensing course and exam, then 45 hours of post-licensing education before the first renewal, according to Florida DBPR education requirements. Florida law defines brokerage to include business enterprises and business opportunities, not only real property (s. 475.01, Florida Statutes). You can apply before you are licensed.
Are positions salaried?
No. Agents are typically independent contractors paid by commission on closed transactions, so income varies and is not guaranteed. Read our honest career evaluation.
Can I work in more than one division?
Agents specialize in either real estate or business brokerage so they can develop real depth. Referrals between divisions are welcome.
